Strategy Is Good. Surrender Is Better.
In leadership, family, ministry, business—every part of life—we’re taught to value strategy. Build the plan. Work the plan. Stick to the plan. But the longer I walk with Jesus, the more convinced I am of a much deeper truth:
The only true strategy is surrender.
I recently heard a sermon on Genesis 28 that validated so much of what I’ve been experiencing in this season, and it inspired the reflections I’m sharing here. In Genesis 28:15, God tells Jacob, “I am with you and will watch over you wherever you go… I will not leave you until I have done what I promised.”
Notice the emphasis:
God fulfills what He has promised—not everything we imagine, request, or strategize.
Some of our greatest discipleship moments don’t come from perfectly executed plans. They come from doing what we thought was right, getting it wrong, being humbled, and finally bringing God the pieces. That’s where transformation happens—not in our brilliance, but in our brokenness.
Over and over again, I’m reminded that God can do more while I’m sleeping than I can do in all my striving. The truth is simple: God can do more in a moment than we can do in a lifetime.
And that changes everything.
We often pray like God promised to bless our plans. But He didn’t. He promised to fulfill His plans — and to stay with us every step of the way. When we live surrendered, we stop obsessing over outcomes and start trusting the One who holds the outcomes.
Surrender isn’t passivity.
It’s posture.
It’s not abandoning wisdom; it’s anchoring it in God’s presence.
It’s letting go of the belief that everything depends on us.
So make plans. Dream boldly. Lead well. But hold those plans loosely, because God’s presence will always be greater than your best ideas. And when He shifts the script, you don’t need to fear it. You can thank Him for it—because it means He’s writing something better than you could have written on your own.
Where Surrender Meets Strategy
Surrender doesn’t cancel the need for wisdom, structure, or strategic planning. Scripture consistently calls us to stewardship, diligence, and wise counsel. Surrender simply reminds us who the plans ultimately belong to.
At Savini Solutions, that’s the tension we honor daily. We help leaders, churches, and businesses build strategy—clear plans, strong systems, intentional pathways. But we also understand that God redirects. God refines. God reveals.
So our role isn’t to replace God’s guidance.
It’s to help you walk it out with clarity.
Strategy matters. Stewardship matters. Planning matters.
They just flourish most when built on the foundation of surrender.
So dream boldly. Plan wisely. Lead faithfully.
And hold every step in surrendered hands.
If you need partners who understand the balance—
Who can help you build with excellence while staying open to God’s direction—
We’d count it an honor to walk that journey with you.
