Each month we share a few lessons we’re learning while helping leaders grow their profit & purpose.

This months volume didn’t arrive when it was supposed to — my apologies!

Instead of smoothing over that reality, we’re going to use it — because leadership is rarely revealed when everything goes right. It’s revealed in how we respond when it doesn’t.

Thought of the Month

I dropped the ball last week. The Compass was supposed to be delivered — and I missed it.

Not because it didn’t matter. Not because it wasn’t a priority. Because I made a mistake… and it fell by the wayside.

Every leader eventually faces a similar moment:
something slips, a plan changes, or reality interrupts our intentions.

In those moments we have two choices: make excuses… or own it.

Strong leaders don’t waste time defending the miss, and they don’t pretend it didn’t happen. They extract the lesson and keep moving forward.

“Perfection” may temporarily build your image —
but ownership and adaptability build trust.

Your team isn’t watching to see if you never make mistakes.
They’re watching to see what you do next.

So if something slipped recently — a project, a conversation, a deadline — own it.

Adjust quickly.
Communicate clearly.
Move forward decisively.

Progress favors motion, not pride.

What We’re Working On

Events That Advance Mission

This month our team is deep in event strategy and execution.

We’re currently helping:

• A nonprofit organization design and host a major-donor fundraising event.
• A Christian author produce a sponsor-funded conference delivering a high-quality, gospel-centered experience completely free to attendees.

We believe the best events don’t just gather people — they elevate impact.

Our team has collectively spent decades planning and executing mission-driven gatherings and has helped raise millions of dollars through them. The goal is never attendance — it’s fueling the mission and vision.

Leader’s Resource

Extreme Ownership is one of those books I find myself coming back to again and again.

The core idea is simple: leaders own the outcome.

Not just the wins. Not just what was directly their fault. The outcome.

Blame slows teams down because everyone starts looking for protection. Ownership speeds teams up because everyone can start solving the problem.

I was reminded of that this week. The moment a leader says, “that’s on me,” people stop looking backward and start moving forward again.
